OUR ESTATE´S CELLAR IS THE `LIVING ROOM´ FOR OUR WINES
The cellar is near Traben Trarbach, in the wine village of Enkirch, and was
built by Franz Langguth. Although the land was originally designated for building a church, it was later put up for auction, at which time he managed to acquire it.
The building was commisioned to Bruno Mohring, a then well-known practitioner from Berlin, who
stayed in the area first to bild a bridge between the
twin towns of Traben and Trarbach and ththen in both
towns to put up many beautiful resedential houses in the
"Art nouveau" style.
The Ulrich Langguth cellar consequently shows signs of ‘Art Nouveau’ on the exterior façade; however when you enter the massive door, you discover a very rational and efficient layout which manages to meet modern requirements in a traditional setting.
The deep cellar has two substantial vaults which can hold up to 100,000 liters of wine and still provide sufficient space to work effectively.
The wine is stored here and lovingly cared for by our
cellar master until ready for bottling. A portion is kept in modern stainless steel tanks, another is kept in traditional 1000 liter oak barrels.
