FAMILY TRADITION FOR OVER 200 YEARS
The Langguth family established their wine business in 1769 and has continuously produced wines to the present day.
The ULRICH LANGGUTH ESTATE, with offices in Traben-Trarbach, was founded in 1921 by the father of the present owner and should not be confused with the wine merchant company which also bears the Langguth name.
Today, the estate is owned by Jurg Ulrich and Rita Langguth and their sons, Markus and Patrick.
The estate owns 4.5 hectares of vineyards, located near the villages of Enkirch, Traben and Piesport, and they are planted
for more than 90% by RIESLING Vines.
All of the vineyards are situated on steep slopes exposed to the
South and Southwest, where they receive a maximum of sunshine. The mineral content of each vineyard’s slate soil strongly influences the taste of the wines and gives them
their special character distinct from other RIESLING Vines.
In the cellars, each wine is strictly separated between
from the other by raising and fermenting them in either traditional
oak barrels or in stainless steel tanks according to the most modern oenological methods. Each wine retains the character of its soil and vineyard.
Also, to ensure the wines are of the highest quality, severe pruning in the vineyards limits production to an average yield of approximately 60 hectoliters per hectare. |
